A Study of Branching Pattern of Coeliac trunk in 100 Cadavers
نویسنده
چکیده
Aims: To study the anatomy of coeliac trunk through emission and variations of its branches. To study the anomalous formation of coeliac trunk and communication between the branches of coeliac trunk. To study the clinical implication of coeliac trunk in case of the variations and anomalous formation of coeliac trunk. Methods: This study was conducted on 100 cadavers from the dissection laboratory with an age range of 50 – 80 years. The cadavers were embalmed through carotid and femoral arterial perfusion of formaldehyde solution, spirit, water and glycerine and preserved in a weak formalin solution before dissection. Dissection method was employed for this study. Result and Observation: classic coeliac trunk with emission of the left gastric, splenic and hepatic arteries was found in 76(76 %) cadavers. Haller's tripod, in which the three arteries originated at the same level and in the terminal portion of the coeliac trunk was observed in 18(18%) cadavers. In 16 cadavers inferior phrenic arteries originated from coeliac trunk was observed. In 8 cadavers variations regarding disposition of the left gastric, splenic and hepatic arteries also regarding the number of emitted arteries observed. Conclusion: Arterial variations should be taken care during the abdominal operative procedures. Vascular anomalies are usually asymptomatic; they may become important in patients undergoing diagnostic angiography for gastrointestinal bleeding, coeliac axis compression syndrome, or prior to an operative procedure or transcatheter therapy.

Coeliac trunk and its branches: anatomical variations and clinical implications.
INTRODUCTION Knowledge of anatomical variations of the great vessels of the abdomen, including the coeliac trunk, is important for clinicians planning surgical intervention and radiological imaging. The present study aimed to record the prevalence of variations in the vascular pattern of branches of the coeliac trunk in cadavers. METHODS A total of 50 properly embalmed and formalin-fixed cada...

Thorough knowledge of normal and variant anatomy of major unpaired arteries originating from the abdominal aorta is necessary to accomplish successful abdominal operations and to avoid complications. The coeliac artery, commonly known as the coeliac trunk (CT), is a major visceral branch of the abdominal aorta originating at its anterior contour just below the aortic hiatus of diaphragm at the ...

INTRODUCTION Vascular patterns are important in the planning and performance of all upper abdominal surgical procedures. The coeliac trunk arises from the abdominal aorta and supplies the supracolic organs. Knowledge of variations of the coeliac trunk is important in procedures such as liver transplants for appropriate vascular ligation and anastomosis. METHODS The branching patterns of the c...

Background: With increasing use of invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in cardio-vascular disease, it is important to fi nd out type and frequencies of vascular variations. Variations in the course, branching and distribution of carotid arteries are commonly encountered. Material & Method: In the present study we have observed variations of the branching pattern of external caroti...
